About the business
Fresh Erics was founded by Eric and Jeanette Watkins in November 2003. As an American, Jeanette felt strongly that a niche existed in the UK for the richer, moister cakes that could be found in American recipes.

Judges comments
Despite much modesty, Eric and Jeanette have shown exceptional bravery and commitment in starting this venture. Started with the very limited resources and with the added pressure of bringing up a young family, Fresh Erics has continued to prosper and they have exceeded all targets. Impressively their award winning products have helped secure a contract to supply a chain of coffee shop franchises. The judges were also impressed to see their commitment to supporting and improving the local community.
